Specific Responsibilities:

External Affairs Responsibilities
● Develop or build on relationships with key organizations in CSD 32 and CSD 20,
including CBOs, Community Board, local precinct and clergy councils, elected
officials, and other key community leaders. Serve as liaison between MESA and
local stakeholders.
● Work to develop partnerships with employers as part of MESA's workforce
development initiatives. Work closely with Managing Director of Programs and
Partnerships to prospect and develop relationships with additional workforce
development programs and hiring partners for MESA program graduates.
● Support MESA's charter advocacy efforts in collaboration with Co-Executive
Directors, including in some cases engaging with elected officials and other key
leaders. Serve as MESA lead for any collaborative efforts with charter advocacy
organizations such as 50Can, Charter Center, New York Charter Schools
Association, or Students First.
● Work with Family Coordinator to build base of parents who can engage in
charter advocacy.

Communications Responsibilities
● Serve as MESA’s point person for the project and “own” all communication with
web development team to ensure that the school’s vision is manifested in
website. Oversee regular updating of MESA’s website to communicate
information to external stakeholders in an accessible, timely, and accurate
fashion.
● Work with Co-Executive Directors to design communications strategy, ensuring
that all different key stakeholders receive regular communication that is
intentionally designed to authentically engage them.

● Oversee production of all MESA branded content and collateral, including
regular and intentional social media postings, flyers, newsletters, one-pagers, or
other marketing material.
● Oversee all work from the Communications Associate to ensure tasks are carried
out to the level of MESA quality.
● Serve as one of the main owners of Salesforce database. Work with Co-EDs and
other network leadership to cultivate appropriate lists for communications.

Qualifications:

(1) Minimum Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree preferred; (2) Minimum
of five years experience, including three years experience doing external affairs such as
talent recruitment, stakeholder relations, or communications; teaching experience a
plus (3) Proven track-record of high achievement and commitment to accountability;
(4) Belief in and alignment with MESA’s core beliefs and educational philosophy; (5)
Spanish-speakers a strong plus.

Salary
$100,000 - $120,000
